I made a deal on a couple Project guns IE: a guns that needs a lot of TLC but the price was good.

One is a Parker Hale, there was no model number on the rifle, just 30-06 stamped on top of the barrel. I have a serial number if that helps??

The trigger guard is still there and the forward action screw but missing the rear trigger guard screw and the stock it broken, action cycles smoothly and trigger is heavy but seems to be crisp.

Did these rifles have a detachable magazine or a hinged floorplate?

How hard would it be to find the missing magazine components be it detach or hinge? And a stock?

Thanks I'm more of a Remington guy but I like to tinker an think it would be cool to bring this rifle back from the dead.

Thanks

If there are only two action screws, a trigger guard unit for a M98 Mauser will work, either commercial or military. If there is a third action screw hidden away in the front of the trigger guard, the rifle used detachable magazines. From what is left of the trigger guard/magazine unit, you should be able to tell what sort of feed system was used. Any stock intended for a M98 Mauser type rifle will be adaptable.

Thats a big help, If I recall there is a forward action screw, a front trigger guard screw and a rear trigger guard screw. Which would mean I am just missing the detachable box mag.

Are these still avaliable new or aftermarket, or do I have to locate a used one somehow?

Thanks again for your help.

Post a couple of pic's so we can tell you what it is. You sometime see parts on CGN or more likely gun shows. There is no commerical source that I know????maybe others do.

If there are 3 screws in the guard its set up for a detachable mag.

You might be better off parting it out. I'm sure you'll make money on the deal. Going the repair route cost dollars and the rifle in good condition is tough too sell at $400.00 unless you're planning on keeping it. They perform very!

If its just a stock and missing magazine then its an easy fix. Might get a boyds stock for it or something and source a magazine or two.

I don't have it yet so I can't take any pictures and I got it at a "won't argue price", I'll probably keep it unless a friend takes a liking to it.
