I've posted an AD in the "Parts Section" however at best, hoping for some information on locating a receiver for the Parker Hale M85 and M87 sniper rifles.

Anyone have a contact or know of either receiver source. I've contacted "Norman Clark" in the UK however they don't seem very interested in we Canadians. Also know that GunParts has M82 and M86 partially finished receivers however there is not engough material on the receiver top to machine into either of these profiles.

At one time I had a US website that had some parts however it got flushed when my computer was updated. Was called "Tactical Rifles" or something similar. Google was unsuccessful.

All suggestions welcome. PM if you like.

Great if someone had a receiver for sale as I have all other parts to complete the project.

Thanks,

Ron

I built a C3 clone using a commercial parker hale 1200. As far as I can see they are the same and they do crop up from time to time.

This is a Parker Hale Model 84. They are similar.

It depends how authentic you want your clone to be.

I have a c3 (not a1) clone wearing a PH trigger, stock, and bottom metal, and bipod built on a military mauser action. It bears a rather strong resemblance to the real deal, though anyone in the know would quickly be able to spot the differences upon a cursory examination. Hell, it's not even going to be a 308 when it's done

But, it's close enough for me.

Thanks for the comments.....here's a bit of info to help clarify what I'm looking for.

The "C3" was built on a Parker Hale commerical 98 action either with the hinged bottom metal or the clip. Most clones I've seen have been done this way. Simiply put, it's a PH 1200TX with a military "walnut finished" beech stock. For the past couple of years several of these showed up on eBay....not too badly priced however they were advertised as Mauser stocks. The aperature sight and Kahles scope are tough to find.....the last on eBay went for huge $$$$$. There was a very correct clone sold on GunNutz last year for a few thousand $....some of you talented guys might be able to retrieve the post. I've got one of these and moving on to the M85 and M87 projects

The M85 is the ultimate sniper...British Army issue and also saw service in the various UK Police forces. If you goolge
"Parker Hale M85" you will get a site that has a spec sheet and picture. McMillan stock and closed top action. The M84 pictured above does not have enough material for the M85 profile. The rifle action is very stiff and pillar bedded just in front of the trigger and the front of the action. Tang floats. This is one of the rifles I'm trying to build.....just need the receiver....told Gibbs made some and there are some in the USA. I've not got any response to my post on the US Boards.

The C3A1 or M87 is the Canadian up date of the C3. The receiver is very similar to the M86 action that GunParts sells however not enough material to machine in the scope base. Got a manual and a few parts for this project.

I have drawings for both receivers and if I can get access to a scanner .....I'll post them here.

Keep the hints coming....never know what someone has tucked away!

Cheers, Ron

My C3 clone started with a Parker Hale 1200 action. I bought a C3 stock from a board member and an Israeli Kahles scope from ebay. Not quite right but very close. As I recall it was about $400. I got a sling custom made to look very like the original.

I added a Parker Hale bipod also from ebay. So the rifle is about half way between a C3 and a C3A1. It looks good and shoots well.

I do have some spare butt spacers if anyone needs.......
