Hello, I helped a friend sell a Parker Hale Safari Deluxe and the received rifle after shipping looks like it was used as a sledge hammer, the stock is snapped off at the tang.

We are looking into options to find a replacement stock.

This rifle is a 98 mauser action with a swing safety and a hinged floor plate.

Does anyone know if this would be a model 1200?

Boyd's sells a replacement for the 1200, if this fits this would be the best bet for us.

Thanks

Most Parker hale models will fit the standard mauser stock for the model 98 action. I could go into detail on the models and there differences but that can be confusing. Do you have a pict of the rifle?

Not a removable magazine, just a swing out floor plate.

I wanted to know though if there is any chance it is an 1100 or would that even matter?

Here is the floor plate of this rifle

Here is the action

Thanks for the help.

If there is a wing safety on the bolt plug, it is an earlier version; later ones had a side safety incorporated with the trigger mechanism. If the safety is on the bolt, you don't want a stock cut for the side safety. 1100/1200, more about finish than different designs.

Would the rest of the stock still fit?

As you can see from the pics this one has a wing safety.

I guess another question would be, if this is just a Mauser 98 would getting a stock for a Mauser 98 be the way to go instead of one for a Parker Hale specifically.

Such a nice piece of wood to have them destroy :(

It should. If you are using Boyds, check on the barrel channel they are cutting.

I was thinking a #1 would be the sporter channel as opposed to the military channel, this should be a free floating barrel for that rifle.

I will get the guy to take a few measurements to make sure the receiver will lock in.

The Parker Hale Mauser sporting rifles have a very good reputation for accuracy. This is largely due to the cut wood pressure point under the barrel at the front of the stock.
