Looking at buying a Parker-Hale bolt action in .303 with 19" brl. However, I see no model number on it - is it under the furniture? Anybody have an idea of which model it is?

Parker Hale did some Enfield sporters as well. That is definitely an Enfield, not a Mauser. Looks like a No1 to me though not a No4. Either way, it should have the model stamped on the left side of the receiver, No1 MkIII if I am right, No4 MkI if NAA is right.

BTW I have a very simmalar rifle, mine is a #4 Parker Hale 303 the same as the one in your pic but without the rose wood forend tip. Mine is a very accurate rifle, more accurate than the average out of the box Remchester.

has BC4 in a circle .303 Br , a whole bunch of 2222's a crown and on the right side a "605 X" . That's it unless the BC4 in a circle means its a No. 4?

I took this to the range last week and it is very accurate, light (about 7.5lbs), ,,, so just thinking if I can sneak it in the gun cabinet ...without any flack! ;)

Ha, if you look at the bolt head you will see it's definately a No1 enfield

I was confused by the cocking piece, it looks very square and the grooved cocking pieces on the No1 are normally rounder. Perhaps it a No4 cocking piece.

but the reciever is definately rounder and not a No4 reciever.

Charger bridge is removed and it looks like a nice job. Not the run of the mill bubba. Sling swivels look correct for a PH conversion as well.

is that a Kurtz Muller 4x scope?

Cocking piece is grooved and rounded at the top, square at the bottom - shaped like a mailbox.

banner 2.5x :(

mmmm

actually now come to think of it I have that same scope as well.

I have a pile of sporter enfields that all came with various attachments. some are restorable some are not. Parker hale enfield conversions are nice rifles I consider them to be the second nicest but only after the BSA comercial enfields.

I try to restore what rifles I can back to original condition, unless its a proper conversion and not some bubba job.

In my opinion if you get that rifle for less then $200 its a deal

can you make out any of the markings on the right side of the rifle wrist/butsocket, or have they been polished out.

One of the more sophisticated Parker Hale conversions. Barrel would not have originally been 19", so its been shortened. If the barrel has a flat on the top of the breech, its a military barrel, if it is round, its a commercial PH replacement. Stock set is likely by Sile (Italy). PH used their stocks.

All I can see is 605 X on the entire right side. It shoots really well, nice and light and he's cool at $200.00 .... that plus(based on all you gunnutters' helpful discussion) it seems to be a bit of a curio as well .... I think I'll call him later and grab it. :D Thanks guys!
