Parker Hale PH5 question

I remember reading about other NRA Bisley sights that strongly resembled the dominant sights for the No.1. We know the most successful sights, but that doesn't mean they were the only game going. The problem is we are about 50-yrs too late to ask the most knowledgeable shooters. I suggest diving headfirst into the UK sites for these and any of the other copies. The websites will likely be dismissive because the copies aren't highest quality.

I have a sight that im sure is marked PH #5 but is completely different than what you posted. it has a cantilevered folding/pivoting post for windage adjustment and a longer 'click adjustable " elevation adjustment.

i believe it came off a Ross Mod 10 straight pull but it may have been a Lee

Looks similar to my PH model 9F that fits on my Long Lee. I'm no expert but your sight also has the distinct "tail" to allow attachment around the rear trigger guard screw that, I believe, was predominant on on sights for the Long Lees and SMLEs.

The markings are a bit crude suggesting someone scrubbed them and perhaps re graduated for a different rifle at some point ?

They are for the #1 not the #4 Enfield I think. I had a #4mk1* that had one fitted but they had cut away some of the rear sight mount to make it fit.

well I do have some spares kicking around. ;)

I think that its an early sight that may have been repurposed, the markings are very crude. The mounting base is beefier then the PH5 and a lot more rounded, but not as tall as the PH5.

I'll take a closer look at it when I have time to see if I can find any evidence of screw holes that were filled in.

The first one is clearly a home made copy of a AGP or PH 5. A lot of work by someone who had the time, probably at work. Quite unique and collectible as an oddball.

Second and third appear to be the real deal.
