I'm pretty sure before I desporterized it, my rifle was done by Parker Hale..
I did some google research, and saw multiple rifles that were the same as mine.
Is there any value to them? They're in very nice condition.
(I love posting pics of this thing, lots of time in it..)

Doesn't look like any parker hales I have seen, she looks like a common sporter No 4 Mk I. The "nose" on the muzzle end looks to have been chopped down a bit as well.

Parker hales are usually well marked so you can't miss the markings if you see them.

Nice restoration job though ;).

Thanks, can't wait to take it out hunting!

All I really know about this rifle is it's an ROF (F) from 1944, and it was modified in 1956, I'd like to know who sporterized it, I want to know the history of the bugger.

Typically, if PH cut the barrel they also replaced the front sight with their own... You have to bear in mind that many, many LE's were sported after the war. These were done by large companies, gunsmiths, and amateurs in their basement.

I have one like that (except not fragile). The barrel is stamped Parker Hale and it is cut just ahead of the original foresight (so no more bayonet lugs) and the foresight protector was gone. The buttstock was unmodified and the forestock was cut like yours. It's a No.4 Mk.2, so ROF(F), but I can't remember what year and I can't be bothered to go look at it.

Sporters

I have one that is almost a twin to your sporter. Cut barrel and forestock, and even the same type of front sling swivel. Mine is a two groove Long Branch 1943. But I don't think mine is Parker Hale. Not the usual P-H markings, and front sight modification.

Parker Hale was only one of the many gun makers that modified surplus rifles for civilian sale after WWII. BSA, Midland, and several others bought and sold these rifles. It generated income and jobs when England needed to rebuild it's work force and economy.

Nice job Transam.

Were you able to work the butt stock enough to get the colour to match or did you pick up another butt?

Have fun shooting her.
