Resident Parker Hale experts:
-Need help identifying action and manufacture date on my Dad's old Parker Hale.
-All I know, is it's 30-06, with r-27### stamped on the action.
-Any info would be greatly appreciated

Parker Hale model 1200 Safari Deluxe, the action is the standard mauser type. Date of production would be sometime in the 70's-80's I think.

It's a Parker Hale 1200 Deluxe.
I bought my first rifle from a Sears catalog and it was that one, but chambered for 270.

Looks to be in good condition these rifle's are very good shooter's the problems were with the finishes and tend to flake off due to the thick high gloss finish also the spring in the bolt release tend to weaken over time causing the bolt to pull out when ejecting.
Some models came without sights I think they are the 1200 C thats the model I have.

to determine the actual manufacturing date, you need to remove the stock and look for a proof mark on the bottom of the barrel just in front of the action. should be 2 letters side by side with a number underneath, either in a circle or with 2 swords splitting it up. the 2 letters designate the year of manufacture. I know for sure the following dates:
VB = 1970
DB = 1978
KB = 1984
but only up to 1984, after that I do not know the proper disignations.
my rifle has a DB on it for 1978 and a serial number R-77###
