Just got a chrome bore vz.58L (or more properly named CZH 2003 S/L) and I've got some easy solutions for the unsightly barfwood but I just can't get over the gray finish on the rest of the gun.

I understand that Iron Phosphating will give the gun a very dark/black appearance but logically the gun would have to be stripped of it's current finish before the process could take place ($$$$$$$$$)

Does anyone know what it costs to get a rifle re-parkerized? Where can I get it done? I just want my damn gun to be black...

Every last trace of the original coating is going to have to be removed from every piece that is going to be parked. This is going to take much longer than the actual parkerizing, and is going to drive up the cost of refinishing.

^I was thinking that as well however I wanted to see the costs of re-parkering.

can you suggest a durable paint?

Tp completely strip and parkerize a rifle would be about $250.Maybe a little less. The bead blasting takes the most time.Probably close to 2 hours worth. It can be done if that what you really want.

Longshot is right, on the price well thats close to what we charge, we usually charge extra because of the extra sandblasting which is required to remove all of the VZ paint. Its has a very rubbery texture and takes awhile in the blast cabinet to get it all off.

I would be interested to know if Polystrippa would work, as I bought some of that stuff earlier and it ain't cheap!

And I personally don't like the grey finish much either...but I am afraid to do anything to the rifle that may damage it or make it not work as well...or something like that...
