Parkerized Hunting Rifle

What are your guys thoughts on a parkerized finish on a hunting rifle?Would it be durable enough?Thanks

no. I would go with a polished crome finish. it is much more bling bling and will impress the animals much more. the parkerizing is too durable and will not make animals want to come and meet you..... silly boy... trix are for kids.

Parkerizing is just one type of finish that works well. Lube-rite(it's a trade name) is the same idea and is the finish seen on C1A1's, but is a much more modern finish. Not by many years though. Pure Parkerizing is usually shades of grey, but it can be darker(close to black). Lube-rite is always black. Either one works well on a hunting rifle though.
Green parkerizing is the result of long term storage in cosmoline. There was no W. W. II green parkerizing.

My Marlin is Parkerized and I think it looks good. As for durability the rifles I use at work have Parkerized finishes on some of the parts and they hold up really well.

you can simply dip a freshly zinc-parked, still-hot part directly in cosmoline and it will turn green. old motor oil also works.

if they treated their parts with cosmo immediately after zinc-parkerizing, then they would turn green right away. the 'only after decades of storage in cosmo' thing is a myth, thats not the only way to get it.
i have an oldschool 700P that came from the factory with an olive park as well.
