Mixed up some Radocy parkerizing solution today, and parked a rifle action. Had prepped the surface by blasting it. I've used the product before. Every time I use the product, I am impressed with how easy it is to use and how good the results are.
Only glitch was the new stainless steel tub that I had picked up at Princess Auto. A nice oblong tub, just the right size for receivers, frames, bolts, etc. Bloody thing leaked. At least it was only dripping, didn't flood the stove.
 
Actually, I did it inside, with the windows open. A camp stove under the carport would be a better idea.
Scooted into town and picked up a cheap stainless stock pot after my new tub started to leak. Something long enough to do a barrelled action would be better. Gave away my long tank when I moved.

I have been thinking about re-parking a M1 Garand barrelled action... one question though, what would you use to plug up the barrel (muzzle, chamber) and what about the gas port??
 
There are different plugging systems. I have used a threaded rod through the bore with gaskets and plugs on each end, and a little fitted plug in the gas port. Others fill the bore with clean water and tap in plugs. The water filled bore is to prevent heat expansion from popping the corks.
 
You can re-park every part of a Garand,less barrel and op rod,in an oblong shaped ceramic crock pot. Advantages are constant temp and a fitted glass top which minimizes loss of the solution by steam/evaporation.You can also blanket the pot with the aluminum clad bubble unsulation to retain heat.I find it useful to preheat parts to 180-200 degrees F in the oven after blasting and just prior to immersion in the park solution.Pre-heated steel seems to take a better finish and also avoids lowering the temp of the solution.BTW fumes from acid based park solution are hazardous,so parkerizing should be done in a well ventilated area,preferably outdoors.On the barrels I've corked both ends,filled with distilled water and plugged the gas port with a round wooden toothpick which is broken off flush before immersion.An ordinary candy thermometer works well to verify temp of the solution.
