Parkerizing Small Sections of Barrel/Flash Hider

I have NEVER used a parkerizing solution before.

That being said, I have recently ground off the flash hider on my M14(Norinco) and managed to save the flash hider while doing it, but the ground down part of the hider and the weld spots on the barrel are left bare.

I have "cleaned up" the weld spots with careful file grinding along with the flash hider but I would like to cover the bare metal with a park finish, is it possible to parkerize only the exposed metal?

In other words, if I place the end of the barrel(plugged barrel of course) into the solution will the areas that are already parkerized pick up more coating along with the bare metal areas or will the park solution ONLY adhere to the bare metal?

Any help would be greatly appreciated along with any alternative suggestions to "coat" the bare areas(which are rather small) to help prevent ANY sort of rust problem and to create a "finished" appearance.

Part of the appearance of any finish reults from surface preparation. If the surface is different, the repaired area will show. Unless I was going to beadblast and redo the area, I'd just cold blue and be done with it.

My flashhider comes off when you un-do the allen screw...

You can put the part in a Park solution and do only a small part. The only "issue" you might have is getting a colour match. I doubt you would be able to matchit perfectly.

When I park parts, I often sand or grind some areas of a part that did not take well or has streaks and just put the whole thing back in. It works.
