Im considering calling them up and going to look at their range to join. Anyone a member or have been? Looking for your general feelings on them or some positives/negatives.

Feel free to shoot me a PM if you dont feel like posting publicly.

Thanks

I was on the fence whether to post this here or PM you as it is a great club and we have members in the city joining like crazy. It is hard and costly to join a club in the GTA so many of our members are weekend cottagers. It is not a very busy club and there are tons of activities if you are interested. Sunday morning they have Trap and Bullseye pistol. Wednesday is the archery club and they have a huge tower stand to shoot from. Every Thursday and Sunday afternoons in the summer they have action shooting. Trap is also on another day during the week. In the winter they had Friday evening 22 shoots on the range with heat and lights. They have courses like hunting, firearms, restricted firearms, trappers, holster, range officer, etc. going on all the time.

I am a member of both clubs as they have a pistol club as well (which I am an executive of). There is the Parry Sound Hunters and Anglers (about 200 members) and the Parry Sound Pistol club (about 100 members). To join both clubs it is $170 and the best expense I have all year. There is a heated club house with bathroom and kitchen facilities. The pistol range has a meeting room and is heated as well. The pistol range is enclosed with heated air blowing in, it will keep you warm but you are shooting with windows open. You can go in the main part and warm up while watching others shoot.
Anytime you go you can find a shooting station and sometimes I am the only one there. For example this afternoon I was shooting at the 100 yard range by myself. On the 100 yard range there is a covered garage to shoot from so even though it was raining a little I was out of it and the wind. Once you join you have unlimited access to the club at any time. You can bring a guest but if they come more than three times the rule is they have to join.

I cannot think of any negatives only positives and too many to post here. I have never ran across any Fudds, range Nazis, or other know it all’s you see at other clubs. I will PM you my e-mail address and if you’re interested in visiting send me an e-mail and we can go next Sunday. Also next Saturday is Ladies day at the range. Ladies day we have several times a year. The club opens itself to ladies in the area to come out and shoot supervised. It is free and they shoot trap, pistol, and rifles. It introduces people to the sport who might have never had a chance to.
