Good day folks!

I have a part here which I believe is a nose cap for an older milsurp, but I just cannot for the life of me figure out what? Doesn’t appear to be for any German, Swiss, Italian, French, Russian, British or American Milsurp that I know of. Admittedly, pre 1890 Levers or Black Powder muzzle loaders etc are not my expertise, so perhaps it’s older? Could also be modified (small bit of brazing on the top of the cap) or could be for a sporter rifle or custom made part.

Definitely not from an 82. I have several.

Yeah. Same thickness of metal as a Cooey 82 Trainer front band, but totally different from the ones I have.

Perplexing.

Looks to be the lower/mid-band from a Mk II or Mk III Ross that has been reshaped and some metal removed.

That’s kinda what I’ve been leaning towards. I put it beside a couple Ross MkIII mid bands that I have, and that seems to fit the bill. Maybe was reshaped for a sporter. It has a small line of brazing on the top of the band, so that does seem plausible.
