Hey guys,

I received my new toy today:dancingbanana:. It's a Ruger Mark III, 5 1/2inch bull barrel, all black. It's the target model. Nice gun but I didn't try it yet since I have to wait for the ATT to take it home. That's why I can't say very awesome gun right now but I will in no long:D. I'm very happy with the gun but their are two things that I kind of dislike a little bit. First, the front sight. It's all black, as well as the rear sight and where I use to shoot, their is not a lot of light so I'm pretty sure that it will be hard to sight in quickly on the target because of that. I don't want to change the adjustable rear sight though if posible. I know that the Mark III hunter come with a day-glo fiber optic HiViz front sight and that's pretty much what I want, unless someone has something else better in mind. Second, I would like to get a Hogue rubber grip without thumb rest for this gun.

So, my two questions are:
1) What front sight are you suggesting me to put on this gun and where can I buy one?
2) Where can I get a Hogue rubber grip without thumb rest for my MarkIII. All I can find are grips for the Mark II and I'm pretty sure they won't fit. I would prefer to buy it somewhere in Canada.

Hi-Viz sight

I put one on my Ruger MKII and Ruger Single Six and they are very effective. You will love them.
The MKI and MK II have a mag release at the base of the grip, while the MKIII has the more modern mag release just behind the trigger guard. This is why grips for MK I & MKII WILL NOT FIT the MKIII

Yes, that's what I thought. And where did you get your Hi-Viz sight?
 
<<----I too bought a Ruger Mark III 22/45 in SS. I am waiting for my RPAL to have it shipped. I would also like to add hogue grips as I have a large hand and would like to beef up the grip. Those sights sound good too. I will see what I can find and post back.

For the rubber moulded type grips I think they may be "coming soon". Checked Hogues website and they have most of the wood grips for the Mark III, which looks like they were recently added because there are no photos yet. There are only Mark II listed under the rubber moulded type.

I wonder if the high-viz sights for the Mark II will fit the Mark III?

I got an e-mail back from Hogue on the grips. I asked them when grips would be available for the Mark III and they replyed that the grips for the Mark II will fit the Mark III as long as you "follow the instructions"

Here is my reply:

Well Meagan there is allot of difference between the two as the Mark III has a magazine release in the grip that the Mark I & II does not have. What exactly does "follow the instructions" mean? If it means carving out a piece of the grip I would think that would happen at your end. Also, if they are the same why doesn't it say this in the item description? All of the wood grips show Mark III availability but the moulded rubber do not.

Hope I didn't sound like too much of a pri** but I wasn't too satisfied with the answer.

I contacted them direct at www. hivizsights.com . If the bill is less than $100 there is no US customs/ BATF issue and they just send them in the mail, US Postal Service. IIRC the price was about $35 for a FO front sight.

I ordery Hi-Viz sight Friday. Total bill with shipping is 50,11$ or something near that. Should arrive in arround two weeks. Thanks for your helps guys.
