Where might I be able to buy a set of 7.62NATO headspace gauges in Canada (are they even available to buy in Canada? Also, where might I be able to buy a USGI bolt for my Norinco M-14. Finally does anyone know how to determine the manufacture date of a Norinco M-14 (serial number range, etc.). Mine has the synthetic stock, but that may not make any difference I know. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide me with.

I got Mine through Forster

I looked everywhere for a set of gauges too (Edmonton and Area). Couldn't find any. So I ordered through Forster. I bought the .308 GO, NO GO, FIELD and NATO NO GO. Cost me just over a $120 and had them in my mailbox within two weeks.

To use the .308 gauges, I had to disassemble my bolt (a bit tricky). My Poly was .0025" over the NATO GO or exactly the .308 Field gauge. After taking Hungry's seminar in Calgary, I was more confident but still a little bothered by the bolt movement. I saw a brand new Poly at a gun show and it's bolt moved even less.

See my post regarding the casings, because I am beginning to wonder whether all that fretting was really worth it because my brass seems to be in great shape, save for the head being chewed by the extractor.

my advice is to stay away from forster guages...... but that's just me.... and a few other gun smiters i know hehehe

CLYMER makes the best and most accurate gauges i've used, ordered through brownells as a set, each one increments by 1 thou

bolt tool for disassembling bolt with ease to use said headspaces guages......
usgi bolts...... the EE here on cgn, gunshows maybe...... and that's it.
bolts and barrels are controlled for export out of the u.s. and i'm not aware of any company liscenced for export to civillian market.

as for manufacture info....... china...... sometime in the past 15/20 years hehehehe
info here is hard to come by as there are very few authorities on manufacture dates/ places and such. the only person i can think of to help with that is Lee Emerson and he goes by the name Different here on cgn
