98% on all tests (damn black gunpowder questions!) and passed with flying colours. I'm very excited to send away my information and wait my 2 months to get my PAL.

Any suggestions on some first guns? Looking for one from each category (handgun, shotgun, bolt rifle, and semi-auto rifle).

For people about to take the test is it a lot easier then I thought it was from online test examples.

Also I highly suggest people in the Lower Mainland B.C. to go to Silvercore for their training. The guys there are awesome and very helpful.

EDIT: By the way I won't be doing any hunting if that matters for the gun suggestions.

.22 LR handgun
.22 LR rifle

Any action and most brands. A $400 rifle may or may not be as "good" as a $1200 rifle but the $400 rifle will probably shoot *extremely* well. So buy one that makes you smile when you look at it. Because then you'll want to shoot it a lot.

Specific suggestions:
Ruger Single Six (revolver)
Ruger Mk III (semi auto, various flavours)
Savage with Accutrigger, various flavours (if you don't think you're the customizing type)
Ruger 10/22 (if you think you'll like customizing your rifle)

Try different ammo brands. This can make a lot of difference and the experiments are cheap.

You'll never regret having a couple of .22's around.

Great thank you for all the suggestion I will begin to look into those.

Even though $ is not a problem with my family (father is very wealthy) I would love to start off with a rifle that is on the cheaper side so I can get a good feel for it and then move up from there while being able to customize some of its parts.

I'm hoping to get my dad and maybe some friends out to get their PAL's also so they could also use my guns as starters.

Also for handgun I was more looking for a semi-auto type but thank you for the revolver suggestion

There's a Ruger Mk III in the EE section right now for about $375.

Good luck. If you wanna get excited about .22 LR rifles, check out the rimfire subforum here or RimfireCentral.com.
