hi, I'm looking into buying a PAT TRAP machine G series. What would or should be paying for a used machine ??
How hard is it to find a used PAT TRAP MACHINE in CANADA??
or Is a person better in buying a new machine??
any info would be great, thanks marba

You probably won't have much luck finding a good used machine at a fair price. I doubt anyone would sell theirs, unless it was worn out. I don't know of anyone in my area buying anything but a new Pat. The freight cost might hurt you.

On behalf of my Sportsmen Club, I just purchased a brand new G series PAT Trap direct from the manufacturer, with a spare Parts kit and the 100 ft pull cord.

I do not have the receipts in front of me, but I beleive the invoice was slightly less than $8000.00 or there abouts.. The company shipped the package by Yellow transport to Toronto Ontario Canada "free of charge"................ The only other expense was Customs. GST and HST etc, all which not apply to you.
Sorry didnt realize you were in Canada.... the Customs, tax totalled about $650.00

Dont buy a used one - used = Worn out.
We bought a new one, about the same cost as WRB just told you

Pay the extra to have the "side loading" option, (it's real handy) or be ready to put a roll away top on the trap house.

There's a guy in NY that sells rebuilt machines. I've seen him mentioned on trapshooters.com before. However, I agree with the rest of the replies - go with a new one if you can afford it.

I have looked after the purchase of 2 Pat Traps in the last 12 months for my club and the total (Pat Trap, cord and parts kit) came in at around $9000 after you consider the exchange rate and pay the brokerage fees, GST and shipping. Deal with Pat Trap directly and they will pay the shipping to the nearest YRC depot. Shipping to NL was another $250 for us.

The columns of birds are separated by angle iron.

In a top load set up the angle iron is 1 piece and fixed to the machine and birds must be loaded from the top, so if the machine is in a house and there is not a lot of clearance you end up loading short stacks of 10 birds at a time to fill the machine

In a side load set up the angle iron is 2 pieces and removable so you can load a whole stack of birds from the box to the machine from the side vs the top then put the angle iron divider back in place. Makes for faster loading.

One club I shoot at has side load, the other club has a top load so to make that easy the top of the trap house is steel and its on rollers so it rolls back allowing a whole stack of birds to be loaded at once.

I have loaded both and like the side load better

You'll pay between $5000 - $6000 depending on bird count, updates and location. Freight is another $400-500 plus import fees. I bought a few last year and sold them the next day. GMV are no longer manufactured but still supported and sell for around $4500. I'll likely have one of these shortly. If you're still looking drop me an email. BTW I'm in Victoria.
