Try cutting the 30 cal patches in half and then even smaller if needed. Or if you have an old tshirt laying around, cut it up and you got years worth of every size patch you could ever want.
I buy the shooters choice big shotgun patches and trim them into squares. Here is another trick though. Buy a box of Q-TIP brand swabs (the economy ones are smaller in diameter and wont work as well) then cut the ends off leaving a little stick behind the end. Push the stick end of the swab into the end of your 17 cal cleaning rod and use the swabs instead of patches. Happy shooting.

i just hate wasting time cutting patches
was at epps a few years ago and i picked up a17 cleaning rod and some jags and brushes but did not look into the patches i figured i would cut some but i find it a pain in the rear doing that
