So a bunch of my morning meetings got cancelled. Nothing on my calendar until 1pm, perfect excuse to hit the range! I had re-stocked my .257 Weatherby over the winter and put a new scope on it so I grabbed it and a box of ammo and hit the range.

In my haste to get out the door, I neglected to check the box of ammo, it was a box of Weatherby factory ammo, 100grs soft points, but it wasn't full. I only had 6 rounds, in fact. Whoops.

So I lined up my target at 25m, looked down the bore and scope, figured it would be on paper well enough and fired. Only out a few clicks, nice. I move the target back to 50m, pull the trigger, and it prints a shot almost on center, a little left. Nice! (It's the "flyer" in the image).

Move the target back to 100m, thinking "well next time I'll bring a full box and maybe some handloads for accuracy testing", and fired three rounds. Gotta say, even a bad day at the range is better than most other days!

Not sure I'm going to bother working up loads for it... I have an actual *full box* of this at home, seems to me the gun likes it plenty. Also, +1 for Athlon scopes. The Argos HMR is a great option in 2-12x with a 1" tube, should pair nicely with the Weatherby.
