Patina on demand...

In need of advice,,,

I am completing a musket kit which has brass trims...(butt plate, trigger guard, ramrod pipes)...How can I get the solid brass to have an aged looking patina...the browning process does work good with the steel parts to get the aged look... but what about brass...that is the question...after polishing it all up, how can I get it to look seasonned?? accelerated ageing process/secrets...

I got some windex on my brass once it made it tarnish .must be the ammonia in it

After cleaning the barrel use the dirty patch to rub the brass.

heat will darken it aswell. try a test peice in the oven at about 350 untill it looks right

I suspend pieces in amonia fumes in a closed container for about 24 hours, then polish to what you like . Don't try iron pieces.

Make a paste from simple baking soda and water. Apply a coating and leave overnight.

cold blue will blacken brass. Dilute to taste
