Maybe it's time for a name change for this list to "Patrol Carbine" forum.

This to take advantage of the term being used by the rcmp and MSM to describe what is known in civilian hands as an "assault rifle".

we're talking terminology here, not use.

We are. They aren't.

Carbine. Rifle.

Patrol carbine/patrol rifle. Assault rifle.

Antis try to divide by intent. So do we. But the difference is where the intent is used in the description.

Either way, the whining is pathetic and old and unoriginal; regardless of who is moaning about it. We should be better than that and them.

Saw this guy on patrol in the paper today.... LOL green furniture for he Navy ... LMFAO :p

Hard as X-Mas candy

I've been taught to assault, but that was with a battle rifle, I was also taught to patrol with a battle rifle, I've never been taught to assault with an assault rifle or patrol with a patrol carbine, so what does any of it mean? I own an AR, get over it or eff off, your choice.

At least some got my point. Once the rcmp decided to better arm their troops, it was with "Patrol Carbines", not "Assault Rifles". My 16" AR carbine is deemed a "carbine" by the maker. A 20" barrel would make it a "rifle". With a 14.5" or less barrel it would be called an SBR (Short Barrel Rifle).

And yes, if the AR 15 was reclassified non-restricted, I WOULD be on patrol with it on my property and Crown Land. Right now I "patrol" with my Mini 14. If I had a Tavor, I'd "patrol" with that.

"Patrol Carbine" is a marketing term. Just like the word 'tactical'.
"Assault rifle" is a misnomer coined by left wing media hacks to make battle rifles scarier. By definition, only 2 such things have ever existed. The AK-47 and the Stg 44.

Assault rifle, is defined generally as a select fire military-grade shoulder-fired small arm firing an intermediate power cartridge. The Germany Stg-44 is generally considered the grandfather of the type.

"Assault weapon" is a BS term first coined in the 1980s by the American gun control movement designed to demonize all semi-auto military-style firearms. Unfortunately, the two terms are now used interchangeably, even by gun owners.

The antis will call them high powered assault baby killers no matter what we call them. Fat Wendy is only about sensationalism and control. The rest is in the details.
