For those who shoot PCC’s competitively, where do you mount your 45 degree offset red dot.

Currently running a 510C vertically flush with the most forward part of the upper receiver rail and planning to add a 45 degree offset red dot once we are Turdfree.

Do you mount it forward or aft of the ejection port and why.

Any issues with potential damage to the dot / glass if mounted aft?

Any advantages or disadvantages to either position?

Thanks,

Markit

I mount mine directly behind my 510c...haven't seen anyone mount it forward of the main dot, but there could be a reason for it I suppose. It's pretty much a personal preference thing, same as what dot you run. I've seen guys run a dot pretty close to the back end of the receiver, seen some mid span on the top rail, and some front of receiver (that's where mine resides). Try different set ups and see what you like best.

In the dual setup, what reticle do you run on the HS510C?
In your opinion is reticle choice influenced at all by single vs dual optics?
Thx.

I used to run mine aft of the ejection port pretty much at the back end of the rail . Worked good for me. I'd keep it on the reciever and off the hand guard as you may need to re zero if you take it off or if it loosens up.

I tried running the circle and dot combo on the 510C but found it too "busy" so now I just run the dot.

The dot is kinda small (2 MOA?) but it seems to work fine. I run the green version.

Part of me feels this is a weakness on the 510C and that it is due for an upgrade to a multi reticle type setup like the 507 Comp and others.

The 507 Comp has much better options IMO.
