My buddy has a Ruger in 9mm and loves it but I was wondering about a PCC in 40 S&W. It looks like Ruger has one but it may not be in Canada with a NR barrel.

Any thoughts on a 40 NR carbine?

It would be awesome to get something that you could wood stock, probably just me, but I love the feel of wood.

What the heck happened?

The chamber burst. I sent it back to Vault and got a new one that I promptly sold. Some 9mm barrels had defects but I never heard anything about the .40s. Aside from some scuffs on my forehead there wasn't any injury.

TNW, Thureon and JR all make NR .40s. I obviously recommend one of those over a Kel-Tec...

I just read up on the Kel-Tec and apparently them blowing up is quite normal :O

I really like the look of the ruger, just a rifle, I don't need to have all the tactical stuff really.

If there was a Chiappa M1-40 or M1-45 that would be really cool, if it worked, I know some Chiappas are particular.

Oh man...I have a Keltec Sub2K G2 in .40. It's funny when I bought it I wasn't aware that it was a .40 (my fault) since I was so enthralled with the fact that it folds - it was a pretty impulse buy. I have since heard a lot of things about it - some good, so bad.

I will say this for my sub2K in .40 and this is just not my opinion, but about 4-5 other people at my range have shot it. Due to how lightweight it is, you really feel a lot more of the recoil, and with the crummy built in sights, it's not the most comfortable to shoot.

I am hoping and praying for the Ruger in 10mm, .40 would do but of course it needs to be NR. The thing I like most about my standard 9mm Ruger PCs is the fact they aren't tacticool like it seems everything must be these days.

Any particular reason for your preference of 40 S&W over 9mm? Some of the PCC chambered in 10mm will reliably feed 40 S&W.

I like woods stocks on this type of rifle, too. There are two out of production semi auto wood stock PCC options that I know of: Ruger 44/Deerfield and Marlin Camp 9/45 (not sure the last one is available NR).

I have a few thousand 40 S&W brass, ha ha.

The camp carbine was always something I liked the look of but they never had a NR barrel length.

I have the JR and have been very happy with it. No jams or anything, shoots accurately. I had the keltec and really liked it too, but I feel that platform is best suited for the 9mm. 40 was very snappy in that light rifle.

Not a bad looking gun, curious with the next 3 years of NDP/Liberals what will happen to them :(

The JR looks good, the Ruger too, the Keltec is weird to me.

Totally agree. The felt recoil is fairly noticeable given how light the gun is.

I had the Jr in .40. Only thing I didn't like was the way the upper and lower attached. Would like to get my hands on the tnw to see if id care for that system. I have glock 22 on order now so for me the common mag would be great.

If only these carbines would shoot as well as a .22lr or 17hmr.... for now I'll just stick to my sks I suppose.
