Probably not the best time to ask such questions (season is pretty much wrapped up for the year) but I am thinking I would like to hit up some PCC matches in Washington state next year.

I live in the Okanagan so the border is ~2 hours away and then I am in Washington state.

Where do I look to find matches? And what do I need beyond what I normally take to a match in Canada, I know about the 6NIA form for border purposes - is there anything else?

Thanks in advance.

I have no idea, but as a new PCC owner living 20 minutes from the border that wants to get into competitions at some point in the future I am also interested in learning more.

I found this last night, suspect this is the best place to find upcoming matches:

Thinking out loud, I just picked up another PCC and went NR, I did debate the smaller / shorter ~10" version but had I of went that way I *think* it would have prevented me from taking it to the States as it would be considered a "SBR" (which is why most US shooters run 16" or some combination of sub 16" barrel and pinned / welded brake to make the barrel OAL 16")

Can anyone confirm?

.22lr and larger, any action, semi, lever, pump, bolt won’t matter. Each action will be a separate class or division. I’m trying to make it so anyone with any rifle can come out and try dynamic shooting sports.
Excellent.

Where is the best place to find your matches? On the club calendar? Practiscore?

Just some advice from experience…keep your squads on the smaller side…Manual action slows the match down, especially manual action that’s not detachable mag fed, like levers. They can shoot fast but they load really slow. And if you have aggressive PAR times on some stages, expect most of manual action to time out - which can cause aggro.

All good, I’ve been running matches for 5-6 yrs now. It can get tricky sometimes tho.

Canadian residents (aliens) cannot obtain a SBR Cert. You cannot get a Form 6 for an SBR aka a carbine with a barrel length less than 16". Americans can apply for an SBR cert or stamp if you prefer. I believe the cost is $200 and a friend of mine says it takes about 8 months to process.
I'll be taking my FX9 south next year with the 18.5" barrel installed.

I was looking at going to Washington State for some matches but with all the rules it doesn't seem like it's worth the trouble.

Not only do you have to worry about federal law but Washington State also has an assault weapons ban that prevents the importation of "assault weapons" -
  • A semiautomatic rifle that has an overall length of less than 30 inches;
  • A conversion kit, part, or combination of parts, from which an assault weapon can be assembled, or from which a firearm can be converted into an assault weapon if those parts are in the possession or under the control of the same person; or
  • A semiautomatic, center fire rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and has one or more of the following:
    • A grip that is independent or detached from the stock that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon. The addition of a fin attaching the grip to the stock does not exempt the grip if it otherwise resembles the grip found on a pistol;
    • Thumbhole stock;
    • Folding or telescoping stock;
    • Forward pistol, vertical, angled, or other grip designed for use by the nonfiring hand to improve control;
    • Flash suppressor, flash guard, flash eliminator, flash hider, sound suppressor, silencer, or any item designed to reduce the visual or audio signature of the firearm;
    • Muzzle brake, recoil compensator, or any item designed to be affixed to the barrel to reduce recoil or muzzle rise;
    • Threaded barrel designed to attach a flash suppressor, sound suppressor, muzzle break, or similar item;
    • Grenade launcher or flare launcher; or
    • A shroud that encircles either all or part of the barrel designed to shield the bearer’s hand from heat, except a solid forearm of a stock that covers only the bottom of the barrel.
  • A semiautomatic, center fire rifle that has a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.

Basically, if it's semi-automatic and takes detachable box magazines with any of those features it's banned. If it's got a pistol grip, adjustable stock, flash hider or even a threaded barrel? Banned. Mlok hand guard? Banned.

Yup, that is my understanding hence why most Americans run 16" guns.

As a Canadian you are forced to buy a 16"+ PCC if you want to compete in the States.

Sounds a LOT like California. I don't want to deal with that level of horse sh!t.

What is it about Communists flocking to the coasts?

Is Idaho any better?
Idaho is a Republican State. About as free as any for Americans. You are a foreigner in the US. You deal with the Federal rules, State rules and in some US States Country regulations as well. Non of the States in the US or Communist States Sniffer you know better, don't get caught up in the stupid adjectives. It is their country and they are free to elect who they want. Sound familiar.

Not sure I alluded to anything else.

As you can probably tell already I am free to stay away from somewhere with such asinine rules.

Sounds like my search has shifted to Idaho.
