.....any experts out there???? Here is what I think I know from google :redface:

I have a Remington M1917 with the original barrel....it has red paint on the wood near the muzzle and is stenciled "30-06" canadian broad arrow marked on the wood....no RCAF or British acceptance stamps....so I think this indicates a "lend lease" or early canadian war purchase from the US that did not go to the RCAF so can I assume that it was was ranger issue?? .....other marks appear on the stock but it appears that they are related to later Danish issue to the "Sirus Patrol" since it has the typical Danish modification of the mag follower "bolt stop" being removed "to facilitate dry fire practice" The bolt has been numbered with tiny numbers that do not match the receiver but I understand that this was typical also since the Danes only shipped rifles for export with the bolts in a different package....

Comments from those knowledgeable on the rifles would be much appreciated and or sources of reference material etc....Thanks:)

Relying on Google is your first mistake. Relying on Wikipedia would be the second, but evidently you only searched Google. I suspect you will need to find the hardcopy books on WWII Canadian rifles to get a more reliable answer.

The M1917 was general issue to the militia in Canada and the RCN so the odds of it being Ranger issue are small.
