Well I recently bought an old PCMR Winchester 94 rifle which of course is missing the crude front sling swivel band. I had a thought that maybe the front sling swivel band off a Lee Enfield no4 would fit the rifle in the same way? Of course not original but still would do the trick if it fits.

Curious if anyone’s tried it!

I wouldn't worry about it. Not all of them had the improvised front band on them.

A lot of guys that carried these made or installed their own sling swivels, so really, they are all part of the rifle's history. While they may not have been supplied that way, they are still, for the lack of better terms, "correct" considering most were done shortly after being issued.

I waited a long time to find one that had the forend band and swivels and sling still on it.

A newly made band wouldn't be the same.

Most PCMR rifles I've ever seen for sale do not have the band.

I've heard you can make the front band from a tin can.

Mine has the original rear swivel, as well as the front band and sling.

Here's what it should look like, almost every PCMR Winchester I've seen at gun shows looked like this...

Umm...no. I had a look at mine and you definitely couldn't make the band from a tin can.
You could make something but nobody would ever accept it as an original item.

The metal is heavier than that and it's a made item.

There is also that little matter of patina, the finish that develops over a long time.

My rifle has what looks to be a Ross swivel on the buttstock, and the swivel on the forend band is an offset SMLE swivel.
