Looking at getting an AR. Was wondering about the PDW 7.5 inch barrel and the 10.5 inch CQB by NEA. How much a difference in accuracy and noise are we talking?
A buddy who has a 10.5inch told me that I would be p*&$$ing off the other shooters on the range with a 7.5inch.....
Not looking for long distance accuracy and the short barrel has a fun factor all in itself. Any one have experience in these?

Cheers,
Nat

I went back and forth on this same issue -- took forever to decide and finally went with the 7.5 -- go broke or go home attitude . I got the Dlask brake for it BEFORE I got the rifleto kill allot of the sound , it's very reasonable when fired. I had both in my hands 10.5 & 7.5 , not a great deal in size but if your gonna go small and light - 7.5 was the one for me.
accuracy ? -- did you want a 1/4 MOA at 500yds? -- it's a semi auto battle rifle - and chances are with a red dot or a 3-9 scope at best , they will all be more accurate than you will likely be able to shoot !
Love my PDW and took a long time going between the sizes , but in the end I'm glad I got the PDW

good luck Nat on your decision -- it's a tuff one but remember you can always get a 18" upper in the future and have the best of both worlds :)

Thanks for the info

I'm not looking for anything beyond 100-200m...more something for fun at the range, but as you say I can always get another upper!

BTW, what sort of ranges do they shoot at IPSC 3 gun matches??

Thanks again,
Nat

I own the NEA 15 CQB and I love it, as far as accuracy I got a .5 moa grouping a 50meters and 1moa grouping at 100yards. This was achieved with a vortex strikefire and american eagle tactical ammo, 55gr FMJ.

Ipsc 3 gun if a registered match the minimum Harrell length that will make pf is 16"

Most fun matches allow pretty well any centerfire

What about reloading?

Hmmm chronographing for a 7.5 got me thinking. Anyone thought of reloading 223/5.56 specifically for a PDW? I reload for my 45pistol, so maybe a tailor made round could be done? I guess that defeats the purpose of having arifle round punch in a small package but for range work I wonder if it can be done...

haha yeah my 7.5 is LOUD NOISES... but I hear it less when im behind the gun... my neighbors at the range hate me, but only people who dont wear proper ear protection (i wear decent ear covering muffs, even inside the noise is no where near uncomfortable with them on)

its more the bone jarring concussion from some of those brakes that bugs me :D
