Pedersen GY Garand Copy *video*

Other then the need for waxed cartridges to run reliably it was a really cool rifle. If it had been along sooner, we might have them rather then garands today.

Pedersen's rifle wasn't a copy of anything. It was a rival that was politically inspired by opponents to the M1 Rifle. Came out after the M1 was accepted, as I recall. Story is covered in Hatcher's Book of the Garand.

This video wasn't about the Pederson rifle... It was about a second rifle he designed after the Garand was accepted. This one was very much a copy, he was basically trying to make an "improved" Garand.

The same Pederson that designed a bunch of rifles for Remington also? Model 14, 14 1/2 among others. He seemed to like very complicated mechanisms, and unlike JM Browning, who was happy when he could make one part do several different things, Pederson liked designs that required 2 or 3 parts to do what could have been done by one.
