Where can I find a pedersoli 45-70 in Canada? Or who can get me one?
I’m looking for the sporting version with octagon barrel

Yeah, I sent them an email asking about a timeframe on getting one. I didn’t know they existed a few weeks ago and now I’m in love lol.

They had them on sale about Christmas of 2019 for about 2100.00, just about pulled the pin but bought the Pedersoli 1885 High Wall instead, but have checked on them every couple months, but I have too many 45/70's so just could not bring myself to buy it, even though it is a beautiful rifle

I just noticed Winchester still makes a case hardened version of the 1886. As far as build quality and reliability, is the pedersoli at the top of the list for new 1886 rifles?

They are for me at least. The nice thing about the Pedersoli rifles, other than their build quality & excellent barrels, is they are true to original design and have no lawyer added safeties or warning crap script on the barrels. The walnut stocks generally have better figure and case hardening colors are better than the Miroku Winchesters I've seen & owned.

Me former Miroku/Win 1873 unit.

I purchased the Pedersoli 1886 Lever Action Sporting Classic Model: S739 (https://shop.davide-pedersoli.com/e...-sporting-classic.html#/224-caliber-45_70_gov). Beautifully made rifle and a smooth action right out of the box. At 9.2 lbs they are hefty, but quality iron and wood. Purchased it through Shooter's Choice (https://shooterschoice.com/). Pedersoli manufactures their products in specific "runs" based upon retail orders. I had to wait about 7 months for it to arrive, but it's well worth the wait. I'm currently waiting for a Jager Target Rifle flintlock model S246, which should be arriving this month. Placed my order last fall.

Highly recommend Shooter's Choice.

Great to hear. I found 1 in stock at Bilozir, but the wood is too light for my liking. I’m hoping to find one with nice dark finish.

I thought I read at one time that Bilozir guns were "pick of the litter" so to speak, that his were hand selected at the factory? You may pay a touch more from him but in theory you should get an above average specimen.
