Hello fellow gunners and Merry Christmas!

Recently, I had the opportunity to fire a Pedersoli of the type the thread is named. It was so sweet and the accuracy was pretty surprising.

Long story short, I'm thinking of getting one.

Are there things I should consider, beyond simply liking it, before I buy one?

Any and all input would be appreciated.
 
I traded with one of the gentlemen in the reg for a old beat up one.

I cleaned and then patched her all up.

Nice little rifle, -I wish the lock was larger- ,

aside from that I like it quite alot.

even with its somewhat pitted bore she shoots quite well.

I made my own ram rod for her, and the lock side/mounting screws are brass.

What you want from a rifle totally depends on what you want from it. Hunting, targets, just to make smoke and a big bang :D !!

Somthing like that is probably a good starters gun though.

Bonus of a flinter is that its not subject to registration.
 
I got a traditions model in .50 for christmas this morning :D im still fondling it!! Cannot wait to get out to give it a shoot, all i need now is some leather gear and a powder horn :p


Ps, a coonskin hat is a must with these guns

Nice pics.

I own a Savage .50 cal mlII, it's stupid accurate, I really like it, so I'm not brand new to muzzle loaders, but am still a rookie.

I do believe I'm convinced and will buy the flintlock.

Ok, it's mine. I did somewhat ok on the price. The box price was $35 less than the tag.

What do you guys use to transport your flintlocks and bp rifles?

I've seen the various leather bags, but the impression is that it leaves them vulnerable to damage.

slings? no slings?

Who makes a nice leather bag and case?

I think I'm missing a few things, patches or wads to shoot for one thing.
