Pedersoli 86/71 rifle

Curious as well, it is the most faithful copy of the 71. The Miroku Winchesters are good but have a tang safety i understand.

I own one of the 45-70 Pedersoli 86/71 rifles. Very solid, well made and finished. Accurate too, as long as I do my part. Even with my aging eyes, I averaged 2-3" groups at 100 yards, from the bench, with the stock sights. After swapping the rear sight out for a Lyman receiver sight, groups improved substantially. Now around MOA. Better still, I believe, with the addition of a Scout-type scope. If so inclined, Pedersoli makes a Picatinny rail for these rifles that will handle Weaver-type rings. Mounts right on the barrel. May try that in the future. They make a good hunting rifle.

I have one, and like it. The bolts have the proper slots in them to take the bolt peep that Pedersoli also makes for them, at a pretty reasonable price. My only complaint about them is the butt stock. Length of pull, with the recoil pad, is a long 14 1/2 inches, and the stock is very thick on the comb.

I love the build quality and finish work on my one. Yes, these Pedersoli's have a "booty queen" butt with a hefty comb, but this along with the effective recoil pad is sure nice to have during 50+ round shooting sessions from the bench.

I fitted the factory bolt mount peep on this rifle and it works dandy for my eyes. For folks wanting a Model 71, but not in .348 Win., these Pedersoli 86/71's in .45-70 make a great alternative.:)
