I heard a rumour that Pedersoli had purchased an original Baker rifle with the intent of reproducing them. So I contacted Pedersoli to find out.

Dear Mr. SW,

Thank you for your inquiry.

It's within our forecast projects since the last 2 and a half years, delayed by the various circustances occuring in the meantime.

We should be able to work on it during the 2023 and it will be available worldwide.

Best regards,
Customer service

what do you suppose "We should be able to work on it during the 2023 and it will be available worldwide" means? im guessing it means they will try to get the design finalized and put into production in 2023, which means maybe we will see them hit the market in 2024.

or do you think they meant the gun is already finalized and will be on the market in 2023?

From what I have seen in the past when Pedersoli brings out a new gun it first shows up at events like the Shotshow then it normally takes close to a year or so before they start to arrive to the Canadian market.I remember when Pedersoli brought out their plains (Baker shotgun) and I wanted one.It debuted at the shot show that January and it took marstar almost a year later to get one in stock.Unfortunately compared to the States we are small potatoes when it comes to gun orders so we kind of lag behind them at times when it comes to availability.Same thing happened when Steyr came out with their full stock Zephyr ,at the Show shot in January and it was sometime in July before a handful became available.A gun like the Baker would be extremely popular so it might take awhile before we can get our hands on them.I would guess if they are available early 2033 then possibly late 2023 to 2024 before we see any Bakers in any number

My pal Steve has a Peter Dyson-made replica that used, so the rumour, components from Track of the Wolf OR the Rifle Shoppe. depending on who you ask. Whatever/whoever, 'tis a thing of great beauty and looks exactly like a well-cared-for original. We have one guy here who has such a beast for comparison purposes.

If the Pedersoli version is as good as the Dyson version, they are going to sell like maple leaf flags on July 1st. However, as with the recent introduction of the so-called Whitworth rifle by Pedersoli, anybody looking for a bargain of any kind is going to need to have a rethink. My LGS boss reckons that it will be around £2500 here in UK - make that a tad over CAN$4000.

The Pedersoli Withworth rifle sells for $2700CAN here in Canada. Pedersoli Mortimer Target will sell for $4850CAN.

i would predict about 2000 to 2400 for the baker in canada. anything more that and my enthusiasm would cool a bit. if they turn our really nice maybe i could see paying a little bit more but lets not venture into mortimer deluxe territory lol

Actually better to use à kit from the rifle shoppe or convert an india made with a rifled barrel.

Cost will be lower at end job .

Second option is actually in the hand of a friend , Hope to use it before october

That is what I was currently working on. A commercially made gun would certainly be easier however. - dan

that and the fit and finish would potentially be better compared to a built gun IF the person building it isnt too handy. my friend has a pedersoli kentucky and the metal to wood fit is excellent. i have had a pedersoli rocky mountain hawken and standard mortimer, both of them were superb! so pedersoli can definitely make this Baker right and make it beautiful if they want to put the effort in, but with today's prices, wait times, limited stock, limited importers and as someone pointed out, huge demand, this might be a rare and expensive bird to get your hands on.

I'll stick to my .451 Pedersoli Gibbs Rifle. She's hard to beat but a Baker would be a nice add in my gunroom. The main problem is that the wife must not notice...
