The lock on my rifle is giving me problems. It would be of great assistance if someone , who has a Gibbs, would take some detailed photos of the lock mechanism, especially the area at the sear engagement at half and full ####. I also will need a detailed diagram showing parts and part numbers so I can order what I will need. I also need to find someone who either has parts for sale or where I can order them. Dave

Thank-you Mike. I have decided to make the repairs myself with the help of a friend. I have located parts at the site given. I find it interesting that all sites given where parts might be available are in the USA. Are the businesses who sell Pedersoli here not allowed to bring parts in? Sometimes.....actually most times, the laws don't follow common sense. I downlaoded and made copies of the exploded diagram.

I don't know what Pedersoli's deal is. But at least one of the local shops, has to order parts directly from Pedersoli in Italy.

Flintlocks etc is pretty decent though. I bought some sights and ball making supplies from them. Order was fast getting here and the other place in the states that I tried to order from, still doesn't have the parts. The local shop had parts before the other US distributor did.

Common sense? What is that exactly? When did it go extinct? And what, if at all, does it have to do with the law or the government? ;)

I suspect that in part, it is more a case of not wanting to carry a significant inventory of parts with relatively few sales of parts.

I realize that having $50,000.00 worth of parts on hand is a problem for a small business but at least they should let you know the facts when you call in. Selling and promoting Pedersoli, who are in no way a small company, brings with it the responsibility to customers to make a commitment. There is no way around that. My next new rifle may not be a Pedersoli because of my experience this time. I also will most likely buy in the USA where parts and service are available. When the long gun registry is hsitory why would anyone in Canada not consider buying elsewhere? Cold hard facts. I have purchased the parts I need from a site in the USA where they had the parts in stock. I will have the work done here out of necessity.

When it's gone, I'm going to collect some guns from the US that have my name on them. They're guns I've inherited.

How small is this world......I'm waiting to get some firearms home from there as well. I thought it might be the first order of business when the returned to work but I guess there must be a good reason for waiting. Very oppressive legislation from the git go. Very similar to how the US "Homeland Security" folks have had such a negative effect on legitimat firearms owners in Canada. Their reason for all of this is...."we do it because we can"! So, we have to take that right away from them. Power to responsible gun owners.....Dave

Bud, I think this is critical so it's not any sort of admonition or argument.

They, have no Rights. We have Rights, or at least we're supposed to. What they have is power. and that is what we have to take away from them, because they abuse it at every opportunity. So we have to remove as much power as they abuse or can abuse. Which is nearly all power. Government needs to mostly disappear along with the parasites running it and abusing us.
