I don't know if you can call it a fantasy design, but it departs from the classic flint double, either English or Continental. Get rid of that horrible coarse basket weave checkering. Hopefully the locks work well. Pretty basic design, that isn't too much like an original shotgun lock.
The Discriminating General double is made in India. Might be best to consider it to be a semi-finished project, unless it differs from other Indian muzzleloaders.
Pedersoli guns do work. For the amount of effort it takes to manufacture one of these, a bit more attention to design and style would go a long way.
I agree, there isn't much out there, and a custom gun by a skilled maker is through the roof.

The lock looks to be the one used on some of their rifles. It may be a functional lock, but its style is modern/generic. Something like the Mortimer lock would be much preferred.
I would be very interested in one of these - a flint double has been on my list for a long time. Its just that I would prefer one that more closely resembled an original. That rifle style trigger guard should go, as well.
The potential is there.

Have you visited americanlongrifles.org? A member there named runastav (a Norwegian) has been posting a thread in the gun building forum describing his creation of a double flint shotgun using the method described in Brockway's book.
Just compare the styling of his gun with the Pedersoli.
