Hi Guys

I picked up a Pedersoli s 786 target, 32" 45-70. Trying to broaden my shooting horizons:D By the way what smokeless loads, and blackpowder loads are the most accurate? I really want a Shiloh #1, but a comparable rifle is almost triple in price:eek: I also wanted a pistol grip shotgun butt, but hopefully the straight cresent stock won't be an issue. Last question, what is the verdict on Pedersoli Soule sights? I've googled sights and the U.S. ones, MVA or Baldwin are alot more, I suspect the quailty is so also.

Thanks

The Pedersoli BPCRs have a good reputation and are considered good guns for the money, early models had problems with the heat treating and some parts(hammers) were considered too soft. I would skip their sights though, unless you are satisfied that they have no slop in them and are very repeatable, the other makes you mention are tops. A good compromise might be sights from Parts Unknown in 'Peg. My target load is 555gr. MT Chambers/paul Jones Creedmore, 68grs. Swiss 1 1/2 fg. black, drop tubed 4' with no further compression and no empty space in case.

Thanks Ben

The gun is practically new. Fit and finish excellent. The case harding look fine. Very very slight file marks on action, I'll have to do a side by side comparison with a Shilo, if I can find one. The Pedersoli sights seem o.k., but at $600 for a cased set new seems high. For a little more would rather spend it on a used yank made set.

I shoot a Uberti Hi-wall in .45-70 and have Pedersoli sights on it and repeatability doesn't seem to be an issue - I'm quite satisfied with them. I have heard people complain about them so maybe quality can be variable. I have yet to try black powder with it - I have some loaded but i'm waiting for better weather. So far the best load I've come up with is 25.5 grs of SR4759 under a .459 LEE 405gr RNFP (or bullet barn 405), that load also performs well in a friends Pedersoli Sharps. Another load that gave exceptional accuraccy but left a lot of unburnt powder in the bore was the same bullet pushed by 55.0 grs of IMR4350. IMR 4350 is way too slow a powder for this application but for some reason performed unbelievably in my rifle (consistant 1 1/2" 10 round groups @ 100yds). I have also tried IMR 3031, Reloader 7 and H4895 - these powders should have produced good results but they didn't for me.

Pedersoli

You can buy a Pedersoli Seoule Sight Set from Cabelas for $399.00 This is a complete boxed set including Hadley eyecup. I have used this set for three years with no problems and complete satisfaction. If people would actually take a look at what Pedersoli is producing now they would be surprised at the Quality of their products.

^^X2

I purchased mine from Shooter's Choice in Waterloo Ontario, at the time they had all variations of Pedersoli sight in inventory.

Quite foten those that speak negativly about a certain product have never actually shot them, just heard stuff.
I have shot the pedersolis ( both the rifles and sights) anmd find absolutley nothing wrong with them for the money one has too lay out for them.

They have good repeatability, are solid, and will do the job quite nicely.
