pelican case for .308 ammo ?

Why not just use a 30 cal ammo can? You can get them for as little as $10 and keep the shells in case guards

MTM case specific cases might be more available and more affordable.
But I'm sure you could find the right size Pelican case with pretty minimal research.
You most likely would have to form/cut your own inserts if your truly desire the locking feature IMO.
One idea would be to take the guts from the MTM and somehow secure them into the right size Pelican.
A little bit more exspensive, but doable.

Small exacto hobby knife in your cordless drill. Mark out evenly spaced dots and use the exacto knife like a drill bit into the foam.

because I LOVE pelican cases .. good looking case, rock solid, and I can lock it !

That's as good a reason as any. You may want to change the foam for the more rigid foam like the florists use (it's almost like styrofoam). Use a piece of copper tubing the right dia (a little snug is best) and just press the tube thru the foam.
