I am shopping for a new pair of 8x40 Binos (probably from Doug at Cameraland). They are intended for utility purposes (dash of truck and boat, hunting pack) so I dont want to spend more than $150. I have it narrowed down to The Nikon Action EX porros(new $120, demo $95), the Nikon Trailblazer roof prism(new $150 demo $110) or the Pentax PCF WP II porros (new $160 demo at $130).
I like the compact design of the roof prisms but I find the optics on porros more clear. I kinda live in the sticks so getting my hands on these exact units is impossible so I would like input from anybody who might have experience with any of these.

I can definitely give the Nikon Action EX binos a thumbs up for the money spent.

No idea on the others.

When I was researching for my hunting binos, it came down to the Pentax roof prism and the Nikon Monarch. Both 8x42's

I choose the Nikons for lighter weight. Both had great optics and the pentax had better colour but it didn't matter for its intended use. Weight was paramount.

Bino riding on the dash is one of the worst places you can leave them, esp. if you ride on any amount of gravel. Porros in the price range you are looking at will be a better piece of kit. FS
