About everything that can be done to a precision rifle has been. After shooting my precision rifle for about 5 years now I have always looked for a more comfortable and/or stable way to hold my rifle... then that lil light bulb lit up and here is what I came up with.

I installed a 6" picitinney rail on the shooting shoulder side of the butt stock angled slightly down and rotated approx 20 degrees down. I then mounted a 3 position folding forward pistol grip. When not in use I can store it behind the bipod on a rail I installed.

This allows my non trigger hand to pushed the rifle straight back into my shoulder, adjust and stabilize for cant adjustments. Both elbows and hand tend to interlock forming a triangle for stability. Elevation corrections are now done by minute movement of the wrist which is controlled by more stable muscles. Pressure is reduced from the trigger hand which allows you to concentrate on your trigger pull instead of the trigger pull and grip on the stock.

I wanted to test this modification under known conditions. I have used the same rifle, same ammunition, under the same conditions at the same range (Listowel) to gauge its effectiveness. I know my scores from the last two years so this will be a good test of this modification. For the sake of the test I did not test fire or handle the rifle since I installed the handle. I used the handle for the first time at the Listowel Urban Counter Sniper Match

It initially felt a little awkward but then it started to feel better after I adjusted the bi-pod (lengthen) from the prone position. From the bench it felt like heaven from the start. I was able to improve my score by approx 5% over my best scores. I then adjusted the handle rearward approx an inch and re shot the match. I was then able to improve my score by another 10 %
I will continue to test and evaluate this modification. The total cost of parts was approx $70.00 and about 2 hours of labour.

A few othe Gunnutz were there so I asked them to check how it feels (BlackThorne, Sgt Scarecrow, Snowdog, and Straightshooter)

that's an interesting idea. No side pressure at all?

I had to move away from Dosing to save what I have left... so how are you doing with your hairline and Dosing? :runaway:

No side pressure at all Striker, it is really stable and comfortable.

It looks great. I'll have to remember that when I get my 6.5 completed.
