Performance difference between cheap and expensive rings?

Im throwing a minox 1.5-8x on my m14. Its decent glass for $500 but it aint60, no nightforce. Aluminum rings that fit my purpose are $50ish and then leupolds mk4 at $160.

Im obviously not shooting out to 1000 with this gun or optic but do want it to be a fairly tight setup.
 
Ive tried alot of rings. And so far EGW and American Defense has never let me down.... They are a few threads on EGW over at sniperhide.com ... They call them the best entry level rings... I run them on 250$ Redfeild to my 800$ Vortex...

On my Ar the choice is easy ADR mount. That thing is built like a tank....
