Period scope for 1974 Brno Model 5

Gents,
Today I acquired a 1974 Brno Model 5 and it came with a modern budget scope (Simmons)
I'd like to find a matching period scope for it - something decent that would be of similar vintage (or at least better matching looks).
What should I be looking for?
Your suggestions are appreciated.
 
Honestly, I would just put on the best modern optics that I could afford, if I were you.

I've tried mounting old scopes on rifles before and found they were just a big PITA.

They usually wouldn't hold zero, or they'd been leaking nitrogen.

Buy a quality scope with a good warranty and don't look back.

A nice set of rings is mandatory too.

On a side note: If it has iron sights, I would probably just leave it well enough alone. If they aren't tampered with they never lose zero.

I have a 1935 Brazilian Mauser that had it's iron sights calibrated at the Oberndorf factory in 1937 and they are still bang on.

First of all, what SIZE rings do you have on your present scope? If they are 1 inch rings, then I would suggest a good Weaver K3 or K4 scope. Some of these have a dot reticle, which really works well with a .22 rifle. Back in the early 1960s I bought a Weaver K4 with the two minute dot, mounted it on a Remington 514 Sporter, and it is still knocking off Gophers here in Manitoba this year.

If you have 3/4 inch rings designed for the cheaper .22 mountings, then I would advise you to go to 1 inch rings for better optics.

My son has 73 Brno #5 with a Weaver K3 1.5X power. Looks right with the straight tube and clears the rear sights. It also gives enough clearance that you don't have to use high rings to clear the bolt handle. Rings should be 11mm dovetail for that era.
