Personal defense 22lr ammo - federal punch

This is extremely fascinating. Thanks for posting. I never thought they even made this for a .22LR. I have these in 9mm, and the LGS raves about these being a more updated and better (and cheaper) version of Hydra Shok product which is why I got it. Price point is better too.

I really really wish he had shot it out of a rifle as well, for comparison purposes (maybe that wasn't the scope of the video, but seeing how some people do use rifles as a self/home defense gun, it would have been good to see maybe that option). I am glad he compared it to a Stinger since the velocity is similar. But the contrasts were pretty clear.

That being said the expansion and penetration is impressive and definitely surprised me. Never thought this would be possible out of a rimfire. He raised a good point about why someone would use a rimfire for self defense.

I just checked a couple of my normal retailers / LGS here in and they don't carry this - wonder if it is sold in Canada.

Lots of videos on youtube, They make pretty cool stuff in 22LR these days. Velocity, weight, expansion, powder charge, you don't really need hollow points. Also depends very much on the gun, hand guns with shorter barrels are a lot different than rifles. I trust CCI. They cover it all.

You may very well be right. I have the Punch in 9mm, and they are JHP, but from the photos I have seen and in the video above, the .22LRs don't appear to be (perhaps maybe due to it being so light, it is not possible to make them HP).

Just got 3 boxes of this stuff today, Bought it for the Neat factor, I'll load up some mags with it and put em in the safe. Might chrono it from a rifle too
