I have an older Husquvarna 270 on a '98 action.

I've been shooting 150 grain Hornady Interlock bullets with H4831 SC powder and magnum primers. I can't remember the actual number of grains right now, but I think it is 57.

I got some 150 gr. NP bullets and regular primers from 'boo last fall and was wondering what your pet loads for 270 are.
 
Pretty hard to improve on what you are doing. In my Sako, L61, that was a good load. 58 grains was also good, but 59 was nip and tuck too heavy. I think the SC burns the same as the standard H4831, only is denser so it doesn't take up as much space in the cartridge. I have never used SC.
However, the loadings I am talking about were with the old war surplus H4831. When Hodgdon's came out with their new 4831 powder they stated the same loading tables for the war surplus powder could be used for their new powder.
I loaded five 270 cartridges with 60 grains of my old surplus 4831 and 130 grain bullet, then loaded five identical loads, only used the new H4831 cannister powder. I shot the ten over an Oehler chronograph.
The five with the old powder averaged 100 feet per second faster and had less of a gap between the high and the low, as compared with the five with the new powder!
I would like to try it again, as I still have some of the old powder, but at present I do not have a chronograph.
 
I like 52.0 grains imr 4350 with a sierra 130 grain gameking. Its a little off the max speed but groups 3 shots in .5"-1.25" under pretty much all conditions in my 40 year old rem 700.

Never chrono'd it, but it groups <1" from my well used 22" Savage 110 with either bullet.
 
I have an old husky as well, but it shoots .5moa with 56.5 H 4831sc 3.4 COAL win primer rem brass 130 hornady sst. It shoots well with these bullets all the way up to 58 gr. I had chronied the 130 sst with 59 gr at 3100 fps but it opened up the grouping. I have another load I use for hunting with nosler partition 130 gr, 59 gr H4831sc 3.355 COAL fed primer rem brass still shoots just over .5 moa.
p.s. if you try these just work up to these loads as they might show signs of pressure in your gun...good luck
 
For years my load was: 150 NP, WLR primers, 57.0 gr. Reloder 22. This averaged 2950 fps. I have run out of my old lot of R 22, and now have to work up a load with the new lot, which appears to need about 2 gr. more to do the same.

I'm also experimenting with H 4831 SC just for fun. With the lot# I have, it appears that 58 gr. will be close to what I want, with just over 2900 fps., with Hornady 150 SP bullets.

From my limited experience it appears that R 22 is able to produce top velocities and fine accuracy as well, without any undue pressure signs. However, I'm not tickled with the apparantly wide lot to lot variation, I should have bought a larger amount of the first batch. According to popular opinion R 22 is more temp. sensitive than the Hodgdon Extreme line as well, that is one other reason I'm playing with the H 4831 SC.

The above is in a Winchester Super Grade with 24" barrel. You'll have to do the usual working up in a safe manner for your particular smoke pole.
