What works in your 270?

I've used Winchester 150 gr. factory loads and handloads with 150 grain Hornady Interlocks, but I'm about to order some more bullets and I'm wondering if I should change gears and go to a 140.

I like to have a load that'll be efficient on deer, black bear and moose.

I don't pretend that I'm a long range sniper, so accuracy to 250 to 300 yards is all I want and that is already stretching my capabilities.

I've been advised that 140 gr. Accubond would be good choice.

Between my hunting partner (270 Win) and me (270 WSM), I've seen about a dozen animals taken over the last 3 hunting seasons with 130 gr. Barnes TSX. I'm really sold on these things... they seem to work great on everything from pronhorn on up. I also tried working up some loads with the Nosler 140 Accubonds, but found the TSXs to be just a tad more accurate out of my rifle.
 
I use Hornady 140 gr. The only way to tell is buy a box and try it out. That weight is a compromise that seems to work. I have used 165 gr in 30-06 and 308 with good results (accuracy wise) My 356 shoots well with 220 gr speers. again a trade off between 200 and 250 gr. Every rifle is a beast of its own. Try it out and see what you get for accuracy 10 grains weight difference is nothing at the receiving end . dead is dead. The key to any hunting load is being able to deliver it in the right spot. Study anatomy and put the bullet where it counts. An animal hit in the foot is still wounded and suffering if hit with a 22 or a 458 win. You are responsible for what happens when you fire.
 
My 270 likes 150 game kings.I have tried 140s and my accuracy falls off. So alls i shoot are the 150 grain out of it.
 
I use 140 gr hornady btsp's...find they are accurate... .65 inch or better. Use it in 3 different 270's... perform well at all ranges I have used them at and works for deer, elk and moose. powder I wont get into because as stated before...each rifle has it's own preference. Only common ingrediant is IMR 4831.
 
For varmints ... 90 gr. Sierra HP's with 62 gr. H4831

For deer ... 130 Nosler BT's with 60 gr. H4831

For moose ... 130 Nosler Partitions with 58 gr. H4831

Prefer the old stuff ... H4831 and not H4831SC, and
use Fed. GM Match primers - Winchester brass.

Made my life simple !

+1 for this 130gr combination, super accurate. Mine likes 58.5 grains.

beretta - have you taken moose with the partition load? If so, how did it work for you?
 
Dead Moose .... stumbled along for about 25 yards & piled-up.
(the moose, not me !) No complaints ! Good clean kill.

Couldn't discern any difference from the last one I took with
a 35 Whelen & 250 gr. Hornady RN ... same result.
