Peterborough IDPA 3 gun match june24

Noticed that some believe the fee is still $75 for all three events. Range fees have dropped and so has the match fees. Combined fee for all three is now $40.00.

Sticker:

I can't go due to the date, but I've never shot a 3 gun match before. (Or shot any IDPA matches), I hope to go to one in the future, and have a questions.

Is there a good site/list to compare the rules to IPSC ?? and what I should prepare myself for??

Thanks.

Hi ckc123

the best thing as far as the "rules" go, is to go to www.idpa.com and download the rule book, and if you have a friend or a boss with a laser printer, print it out. A hard copy is so much nicer;)

IDPA is spawned from the fact that over 35 states in the union allow CCW.
So the rules are made so that you mimic the "real world"

From the rule book: IDPA is a shooting sport that uses practical equipment, including full charge service ammunition to solve "real world" self-defence scenarios.

As far as the 3 gun match stuff....

Well, the big P in IDPA does stand for "Pistol". There are no rules for rifle or shotgun in IDPA.

Now having said that, as long as the spirit of IDPA is kept sacred, lets play with all 3. After all, if the big D stands for "Defencive", what would you rather defend your home with, a pistol or a shotgun/rifle?;)

I have shot one 3 gun (it was IPSC) before, and the biggest screwup is that people have the pistol part down pat, but they have never used their rifle or shotgun under stress. So when it come time to do a reload under the timer, they are all thumbs. Some don't even test their guns at home before going to the match, they get there only to find out something is broke or the sights are way off, ammo don't feed............I could go on.

So the best piece of advice I can give you is make sure your 3 guns work well, and you are comfortable with them, before going to a match!

Well.. I know the Rifle and the Shotty work, as I use them every so often at the range. and "Speed" while good to have, is ok for me to go slow. I'm more interested in checking it out and having fun. I'll work on the speed once I get the hang of it.

If there are no rules for the rifle, and shotgun, are there any restrictions/classes etc for types of rifle/shotguns based on auto/pump and optics? (and can you mix and match, "production pistol" and a "AR15 with optics" etc.)

Thanks.

Hi Again

Hey, if your guns work, and you shoot strait, you will be doing better then most!

As far as what would be acceptable as Rifle/ shotguns, and accesories go, it would all come down to "real world" rules that governs IDPA. If what you are using is so tricked out it looks like nothing law enforcement/military use, then the FTDR rule could be enforced.

But like I said there are no rules for Rifle or shotgun so the match director would have the final say at HIS match.

Just so you know, in Eastern Ontario

There are IDPA matches @

Smith's falls fish and game July 15 and August 19

Cornwall Handgun club September 23rd

Hopefully Smith's falls will have another one in November like they did last year. (Hint Hint John:D )

Sounds like they use "real world" shotguns...:p,

as opposed to fake shotguns that only shoot ribbons and balloons..:D

I like shooting in Peterborough club, but going to Pemborke for the Tac match there this time.
Will do my best to make the next one.
I'll have a new addition to my rifle by then too ;)
which i couldn't do in time for tomorrow :(

Thanks to all the guys that came from the East to put this match on. I had a blast shooting the pistol part of it and I am going to be working on a shotgun and rifle so as I can enjoy the full participation next time. It was a great match enjoyed by all. You guys did a great job and are to be commended.

Phil
