Anyone used Peterson SRP 243 brass for hunting? I’ve heard various reports of people having hangfires or misfires using ball powder and small rifle primers at low temps, and just wanted to hear any first hand experience using small primers with 40+ grains of powder in cold temps, and whether it’s worth the hassle.

You would want to go with small mag primers for ball powders for reliable ignition.
Also you need to make sure the rifle in question won't pose issues with small primers, sloppy firing pin to firing pin hole or fat firing pin I would stick to LRP brass.

No first-hand experience with 243, but I have used other SRP/SPP brass rounds (308, 45acp and others) without issue. If you're worried about ball powder ignition, you can use magnum primers like others have said. Just keep an eye on pressure when you get near the top end of your load.

A ball powder would be my last choice for a 243 propellent.

A .062" diameter flash hole will give ignition issues.

A .075" diameter flash hole will eliminate ignition issues.

I use W760 and H414sl10 (slightly slower) in a batch of 100 SRP 243 cases made by Remington, with Remington #7 1/2 benchrest primers.

Velocities with both powders are very consistent and at the top of the charts with bullets 80-100 grains. Accuracy is excellent as well.

I need to take that Voere out more often.
