HI,
Im looking for opinions on coyote build with rem260 and 6.5 Creedmore.
And one of the specific questions is what's your COAL with 140gr berger hybrids (lands measures)? Did you have any issues to feed magazine with it?
Any details and experiences are welcome.

Thanks for your response Glock4ever , let me correct my question. Would magazine length (2.880") be a restriction from reloading longer bullets like 140 berger hybrid? Magazine is a key here, otherwise there is tons of ways to get over it.

I would say yes.

From my little research into the 6.5's, it was generally advised to build a gun off a long action to retain the ability to go long.

If I were to go that direction, I would definitely start with a long action.

Hey boogiboy,

If COAL fitting the magazine is a concern for you here, I would go with the 6.5 Creedmoor. In most rifles chambered in either 6.5CM or 260Rem, the magazine will usually be the same, as a lot of rifles chambered in those calibers are using .308win magazines. The 6.5CM has a shorter case length than the 260, so you will be able to seat Hybrid or VLD style bullets a little higher without magazine length being an issue. I hope this helps, if I haven't answered your question correctly, let me know and I'll do my best to find you an answer.

Why not the 6.5x47lapua instead? Then you would definitely have room in a mag. Guy had as one up forsale on the EE.

thanks everyone for info. Does anybody have the actual pgw coyote build with either rem260 or 6.5CM (barreled in PGW) so you could spit out some data with different bullets . (lands, COAL). This will help to make decision.

mudpro, i've been looking for many options for 6.5mm and narrowed my selection to this 2 choices for my particular case. Im not looking to buy right now, because huge fun of PGW and just want to re-barrel .

I have 7 Coyote mags and they are 2.88" +/-. I built a 260 with a 700 action and use 139 scenars and I get them to mag feed without any issues. My coal is 2.788" which gives me .010" jump.

It's all about working with whoever is reaming your chamber to get what you want.

Trying to seat 140 VLD's close to the lands still means single feeding on my Ruger RPR 6.5 Creedmoor.....heard Alpha Industries make a mag that will accommodate longer COL.

I have a .260 Coyote that I had PGW build to my specs with a reamer I supplied.
I had Dave Manson make me a .260 Rem reamer with a .298" neck and .060 freebore.
This alows me to use every popular 140 class bullet and seat the bullet to the lands and still feed from a mag.
Ironicaly I settled on 130gr Berger hunting VLD's at 2915fps. 140 Hybrids and 139 Scenars also shoot terrific.

My hunting/reloading stuff is packed up from a recent move and I cant recall the exact COAL right now.
Will see what I can dig up later.

I was considering more exotic chamberings but am very happy I went with plain 'ol .260Rem.

Thanks marcoman, for info on reamer, its good to know that it might be great workaround with our "short mags". Did you ask PGW what FB and neck size they use by default if you dont provide them your custom reamer?

Are you gonna shoot hand loads or factory loads? Factory go 6.5, hand loads 260, 6.5x47 has nearly the exact Same ballistics as a 260 but in the long haul the 260 has more kinetic energy at distance. Most of the 6.5 standard cartridges are very similar in ballistic performance, I personally chose the 260 due to components, as I hand load all my systems, brass quality being a huge deal, lapua vs hornady....pretty much know how that goes...

260 anything is passé. 6.5 creedmore brass sucks and is a ##### to get. 6.5 lapua is the cat's ass, brass is dirt cheap and easy to acquire, and 136 scenars are the ticket.

I haven't had any issues whatsoever with Hornady 6.5CM brass and have had excellent results. I also wouldn't consider $133.00 for 100 pieces of 6.5 x47 brass dirt cheap.

Oh wow, Hornady cm brass must have become easily accessible and of higher quality in the last few months.....good to know. In regards to the best cartridge ever produced, the 6.5x47 Lapua. I'm not sure how you do your math, but according to mine, it's the cheapest brass I've ever used. 133/100 = 1.33 1.33/30 = .044. Costs me a little over 4 cents in brass per round. You can burn out a barrel with $133 worth of brass.

I have to agree. It is the toughest brass I have ever used. You can very very easily get 20 reloads and if you take care of it and anneal I bet you can get well over 30 reloads. So it is very cheap brass in the long run in my opinion.

Macroman was kind enough to let me use his reamer when I re-barreled my PGW260. I'm shooting 136 scenars 10 thou off the lands and COAL is 2.800. 2870FPS over 42.3 H4350.
