Wasn't impressed with my Timberwolf at first but with the right optic and a couple hundred rounds of load trials I wouldn't change it for a DSR-1
I do not see myself dragging such a beast(DSR-1) at -30C in January hunting Elk in Labrador.

I do agree that it might become collectable as the Walter 2000 is right now.
I do still bite myself for not buying the one I tried 20 years ago:bangHead:

Elk in Labrador?

Not so sure about that. Read 'A Rifleman went to war'...

Actually you may be right. Looking at the stats for Canada in WWI it looks like we had a fair number of top snipers.

In WWII the Russians and Germans definately had the majority.

Performance wise, neither of these two guns come in Lapua Ackley Improved so is you're going to push a 300gr bullet and work at getting max performance out of it, the brass in both guns is going to grow and wear out. The Ackley Improved version of the 338LM doesn't have that problem nor do you of course have to trim brass, just neck size and reload.
Last weekend Rick cronographed a Lapua 300gr bullet with the same load he uses with a SMK and achieved 3096fps. The SMK on the other hand was about 3000fps.

For the kind of money these guns demand, though they are well built, to be able to order up a gun 'a la carte' tailoring the gun to the type of bullet you want to shoot taking into consideration twist rate, trigger choice, including quality glass in the price as well as match dies and an accuracy garranty, I think either one of these two guns would be bought to fullfill a dream or because of the name associated with the product.

I take a PGW timberwolf over any other any day, and still have enough money for brass reloading press, scopes, and also a shooting bench... for the Kind of money that Erma DSR-1 they are asking for...

Judging from the last EE post I saw both rifles are about the exact same price. I know I won't hesitate to buy a DSR-1 if I ever have an extra 10Gs lying around.

Well the DSR are 10G with out scopes, even if you deck out the PGW with the top of the line S&B, you still come in under $10G, I got a quote from steve for $6G for the PGW Timberwolf in 338 Lapua...
