Hi long range shooters,

Yesterday I had the opportunity to handle a Prairie Gun Works Timberwolf in 338 LM. I was with three LEO snipers who were checking out different sniper rifles for their department. I was impressed beyond words with this rifle. It actually put all the other ones to shame. I had never seen such craftmanship on this type of rifle, almost a work of art, a real beauty. I`m tempted to replace my TRG. Are any of you out there familiar with this gun and if so what do you think of it? One of the markmen present claims to have gotten 4" groups at 800 meters with this rifle, does that sound right?

They make a great product, as far as how they run stuff or who they wish to sell to it's their business. I wouldn't waste their time with my tire kicking shoes these days, but one day. Mark my words. One day!

Hat's off to the boys at PGWDTI. We miss you.

It was originally posted in the "Long Range Competition" forum. It starts to get a tad annoying, as many of the newer guys who post in there post things specifically about precision rifles, but that's not my problem.

Sorry Rohan,

I didn`t even notice I placed this thread in the wrong forum. My mistake for not being able to tell the difference between both forums.

Thanks to Pete1, Steve David and 2bad4u for answering my querries.

Tell us about the Stevens 200 you own? :p

I have a Coyote Action with a Heavy barrel .260 Rem. When I bought it had a .308 barrel. It shot like a house a fire!!! Haven't really had the time to do testing with the 260 barrel on. With some pop shots here and there. Shot pretty darn good from the amount of shooting I have done with it!!!

Sasquatch807: There are members of other boards such as SR90 from snipershide who own Timberwolfs with whom you can direct your questions from. I don't believe you're going to find anyone on this site who actually owns one of these rifles. If there are some here, they aren't very vocal about it.

Here's some of SR90's pics that he recently posted on the 'hide. The last pic is that of his own rifle. Check out the folder stock here. I believe there are other pics of it here on this forum.

Ed Begg owns one, mind you he has it up for sale. We should see if he has had the opportunity to shoot it, no doubt they are awsome rifles, that bottom pic is a very nice set up 2bad4u2.

Rohann, very cool picture!

I know SR90 loves his T-Wolf.There is a local guy to me that just recieved one from PGW. I'll see if I can track him down for his impressions.

Ed is selling his T-Wolf as the AMP-DSR has caught his eye.......;)

PGW Timberwolf Range Report

Here are a couple of groups from my .338 lapua Timberwolf.I fired these a couple of hours ago and keep in mind the rifle is brand new still less than 100 rounds down the barrel and I am still working on load development.
I fired 8 5 shot groups @ 100 yds and all of 8 groups the largest difference was within .015" of each other.I think that speeks for itself.
The load is:
300 Gr Sierra HPBT Match Moly Coated
Lapua Brass
Fed Gold Metal Match Magnum Primers
92gr H-1000

Pete,
That's the same load I use. I tried every variation and found that the load you have (Steve gave me) was the best all along.
Do you seat it into the lands?
My best group (3-shot) was 0.92" at 560 yards.
Others that day were all 1.5-2.5" at 560 yards.
