I bought a PH5C sight at a gun show on the weekend it was had for a hood price and I was very happy!! I checked it over very carefully and the elevation and windage knobs seemed to function as they should. I mounted it on my AGP longbranch and tried it out last night. My gun finally shoots as I knew it would!!

So being satisfied that the sight was straight and worked properly I decided to pull it off of the gun so I could give it a good cleaning and touch up the bluing. I once again played with the elevation screw and nowticed that it wouldn't go up!! It seems that the threads are stripped on the piece that the elevation screw threads into. That piece was loose when I used it so I'm thinking that I didn't do anything to screw up. I read how to properly use a 5C sight on a couple other forums just to make sure I knew what I was doing.

I pulled it apart and I'm confused a little now. I lossened the lock nut from the windage screw carrier, pushed it in and the sight came off as it should.

So I examined the elevation screw and it has fine threads on it as shown, which look to be in good shape.

Then I pulled this piece out and it seems these threads are a little buggered!! I'm guessing someone was adjusting it with the locknut tight! That's is the only reasonable explanation of why it would be stripped. But what's strange is there apears to be corse threads in here

Is this normal? Do any of you have pics of this inner piece with 1/2 threads that rides against the elevation screw? It makes no sense that there would be corse threads in that piece but fine threads on the elevation screw?? Maybe it stripped every second thread and that's why it looks that way??

Anyway any help and pics would be great, I know I can make a new part but I'd just like to know what's what before I do it!! Or I'll attempt to make a jig so I can tap new threads on the one side of the oblong hole where the elevator screw threads in. I'm just confused as there's lots of threads in that oblong hole but they appear to be very corse and aren't even close to being similar to the threads on the elevation screw.

Thanks
