Nope. Muzzle devices don't count towards barrel length. The rifled barrel is all that counts.
Don't believe it? I can't be bothered to do the search...
It started years ago when M1 Carbines were having barrels extended... RCMP didn't like it and pushed for legislation...
What is measured is from end of rifling to closed bolt face. Rifling has to be continuous from muzzle to chamber.
Canadian law specifies that the barrel of a firearm must be measured to assist in determining the firearm's classification.
Barrel length is measured as follows:
a revolver is measured from the muzzle of the barrel to the breech, immediately in front of the cylinder;
all other firearms are measured from the muzzle of the barrel up to and including the chamber, but not including the length of any part or accessory added to the barrel, including those designed or intended to suppress the muzzle flash or reduce the recoil, such as a flash suppressor (eliminator) or muzzle brake.
Sorry to muddy the waters but this doesn't make perfect sense. I've seen prohibs that were de-classified with barrel extensions that weren't rifled. The big emphasis there was '' permanently attached ''. Normally the stud or extension has nothing done to it however, no porting/venting or other mods.

What about shotguns?
For legal purposes, barrel length is closed breechface to the muzzle.
Add-ons don't count as barrel length.
